About the Distillery
Mortlach distillery was founded in 1823 by James Findlater and his two partners Donald McIntosh and Alexander Gordon. Mortlach was the first of Dufftown’s seven whisky distilleries, the second was Glenfiddich, which was founded by William Grant who had been production manager at Mortlach. Mortlach was the only distillery in Dufftown for over 60 years. The distillery is currently owned by Diageo and has a capacity of 3 million litres per year.
Mortlach is still an important component of the Johnnie Walker blends.
This distllery is well known for their use of quality sherry casks during maturation but also for their rich robust spirit.
