Ardbeg For Discussions 8 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 50.8% Age: 8 Years Old Country: Scotland
Where Ardbeg is, has been and always will be made by people genuinely devoted to producing The Ultimate Islay Malt. Ardbeg the whisky is Ardbeg the place, in all its raw natural beauty. There have been many ups and downs on the long road to Ardbeg throughout the years. Ardbeg’s story is one of irrepressible spirit surviving against the odds, finally emerging as “unquestionably, the greatest distillery on Earth”.
In 2004 Ardbeg launched the ‘For Discussion’ Series and labelled it as ‘Very Young’. It was a way for us to try Ardbeg as it matured to the more popular and well known 10 years old age statement. An experiment by Master Distiller, Dr Bill Lumsden to move the core range to show possibly a younger whisky as the companies flagship bottling. “What if, in an alternative universe, Ardbeg Ten was not the distillery’s “flagship” aged expression?” said Dr Lumsden. “An aged ex-Sherry whisky is new territory for us, so naturally, we want some thoughts. We’re sharing this with the Committee’s experienced palates to help us find that smoky sweet spot. It’s more than guaranteed to provoke discussion among those privileged enough to taste it.” explained Dr Lumsden.
A young Ardbeg released to be challenging on the palate and as an exclusive for members of the Ardbeg Committee. Bottled at 50.8% abv
