Distilled in 2015, this Batch 1 release was matured for 10 years in a precise selection of First Fill Bourbon Barrels and Sherry Hogsheads. At the higher 50% ABV, the spirit carries even more of the natural oils and esters from the Optic grain, resulting in a more robust and textural experience compared to the standard range. It remains non-chill filtered and natural in colour, showcasing a brilliant gold hue.

Nose: Powerful and concentrated. You are greeted by an intense wave of honeyed malt and vanilla pod, followed by a vibrant layer of lemon zest and orchard fruits. The higher proof amplifies the scent of freshly cut grass and toasted oak, with a deeper, richer cereal sweetness at its core.

Palate: The arrival is “weighty” and creamy, coating the palate with a thick, oily texture. It delivers a bold burst of butterscotch and poached pears, which quickly evolves into a mid-palate of citrus oils, white pepper, and salted almonds. The Optic barley provides a distinctive nutty, biscuity foundation that stands up perfectly to the 50% strength.

Finish: Long, warming, and remarkably clean. The finish lingers with a final flourish of toasted barley and honey, finally tapering off with a persistent trail of soft oak spice and a maritime tang.
