Benrinnes 2009 Aged 12 Years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky – The Single Malts Of Scotland (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 48% Age: 12 Years Old Country: Scotland
The Single Malts Of Scotland range is brought to us by London based Elixir Distillers. They specialise in independently bottling Japanese and Scottish whisky but also bottle American and Irish whisky from time to time. The company’s three core whisky brands are Elements of Islay, Port Askaig and The Single Malts of Scotland, while it also bottles navy rum under the Black Tot brand. The Single Malts of Scotland range provides independent bottlings of vintage single malt Scotch from many distilleries and at a variety of ages.
A Scottish single malt whisky that was distilled in 2009 at the Benrinnes, Speyside distillery. It was left to mature in a small batch of four refill sherry hogsheads and one sherry butt for no less than 12 years. This is a rich, spicy whisky with notes of leather, chocolate and cherry. Bottled at 48% alc/vol with no chillfiltration and, no added colour.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Sitting on a soft, worn leather armchair while sipping on a Manhattan – this is all cherries and spice! Sandalwood, clove, cinnamon all invite you to enjoy this dram.
Palate: Chocolate and cherry abound and take on the richness of a black forest gateau topped with almond slivers. Ginger snaps with a cup of coffee balances the sweetness, and only adds to its moreish quality.
Finish: This is a beautifully intense, spicy finish that fades to cherry cola and black peppercorn.
