Named after Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, an important historical figure in the history of American Bourbon who owned a significant number of distilleries in the 1800, and also pioneered production techniques that are still in use today, this bourbon is a tribute to the great man.

“This small batch, Bottled-in-Bond 100 proof straight rye whiskey pays tribute to the former Distillery owner with a unique rye whiskey reminiscent of days long past.” Over 100 years ago, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was making Straight Rye whiskey. During recent years, the style has gained popularity, though Buffalo Trace Distillery have been long distilling straight rye.

Unlike the Sazerac Rye, this whiskey contains no corn – just rye and malted barley. Dried fruit, black pepper and a little dill are present on the nose. Aged for a minimum of 4 years, the undertone of oaky sweetness is apparent, but not overwhelmingly so; the subtle aromatic nose remains and is bright and light. Colonel E. H. Nose: Dried fruit with peppery notes.

Taste: Soft caramel, oak and heavy spices, light sweetness.

Finish: Medium length, oaky finish.
