Glenlossie-Glenlivet Aged 12 Years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Cadenhead Original Collection (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: 12 Years Old Country: Scotland
Scotch Whisky is known the world-over by the Brand names of large blending companies. These blends are the mixture of the products of various distilleries which were originally independent family owned units. Until the middle of the 20th century there were many small firms that bottled and sold the pure product of the local distilleries. Since Victorian times the firm of William Cadenhead has provided this service. However a diminution of public interest caused the small bottling companies to close down. Only a small handful of distilleries still remain in the ownership of their founding families and even fewer of the bottling companies remain active, William Cadenhead is one of the notable survivors.
Recent revival of interest in the whisky from different single distilleries has caused a surge of new firms to emerge. Many do not actually control their bottling operations and unfortunately feel it necessary to invest fictitious ancestries. However William Cadenhead has a well established pedigree and the experience of over one and a half centuries ensures that our customers can truly rely on what we put in a bottle. They guarantee that they never chill-filter or chemically alter the products that they bottle nor do they add colouring agents. Each of their bottlings of whisky, and indeed of their rums and cognacs, comes from an individually selected cask.
The Glenlossie Distillery was formed in 1876 and for years was better known as Glenlossie-Glenlivet Distillery Co. It produces approximately 2.7 million litres of malt whisky annually which is mainly used for blends such as Haig Dimple and Haig Gold Label. The distillery is located south of Elgin in the Speyside region which has an abundance of distilleries including BenRiach, Glenfarclas and Macallan. The spirit stills at the distillery use a ‘purifier’ between the lyne arms and the condensers. This purifier acts as a mini-condenser, which returns some of the alcohol vapours back to the pot to be re-distilled. The action of ‘purifiers’ increases the amount of whisky. The distillery is owned by Diageo and shares its warehouses with Mannochmore distillery which is located right next door.within the stills, which results in a lighter, more delicate
This single malt whisky was distilled at the Glenlossie Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was then placed into ex Bourbon barrels for no less than 12 years. Bottled with natural colour and no chill-filtration at 46% ABV.
