Signatory Vintage are an independent bottler founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington. The name ‘Signatory’ was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign the labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. The first cask bottled was a 1968 Glenlivet which quickly sold through long before any suitable signee could be found. Signatory currently bottle at three strengths: 43%, 46% Unchillfiltered (UCF) and Cask Strength.To add proof of authenticity to their cask strength bottlings, Signatory always include the cask numbers, date of distillation, date of bottling and number of bottles produced.Signatory Vintage’s aim is to offer as wide a range of whiskies as possible, some of which are not even bottled by the proprietary distillery. This allows malt enthusiast to sample the huge variety of subtle differences which occur between casks.

The Linkwood Distillery was established in 1821, but only started production in 1824. Owner Peter Brown was the manager of the Linkwood Estate and wisely kept his nose clean until the 1823 Excise Act was on the stature book. The distillery was rebuilt in 1874 and was run as an independent distillery up until 1932 where is joined DCL, now Diageo. It has remained in production ever since, with regular upgrades taking place, most significantly in 1972 when a new distillery was built opposite the old buildings. The owners ran both distilleries until 1985 when the original distillery was used as an experimental site. The capacity of the distillery is now around 5.5 million litres per annum.

This single malt whisky was distilled in 2006 at the Linkwood distillery in the Scottish Speyside whisky region. It was matured 1st Fill Pedro Ximenez Sherry Hogsheads & 2nd Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts and in 2024 was bottled at 57.1% alc/vol as part of the Signatory Vintage 100 Proof Exceptional range. This whisky has no added colouring and is unchillfiltered.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Dense notes of dried raisins and dates, with some prune juice and milk chocolate. There’s some very well integrated oak spice.

Palate: At first there’s sweet notes of dried dates, rich raisins and dried prunes, milk chocolate, oily on the palate with unique oak spice and hints of bitter chocolate.

Finish: Long and lingering with rich oak notes and dried dark fruits, the bitter tannins combine with sweet dark chocolate notes
