Signatory Vintage are an independent bottler founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington. The name ‘Signatory’ was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign the labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. The first cask bottled was a 1968 Glenlivet which quickly sold through long before any suitable signee could be found. Signatory currently bottle at three strengths: 43%, 46% Unchillfiltered (UCF) and Cask Strength.To add proof of authenticity to their cask strength bottlings, Signatory always include the cask numbers, date of distillation, date of bottling and number of bottles produced.Signatory Vintage’s aim is to offer as wide a range of whiskies as possible, some of which are not even bottled by the proprietary distillery. This allows malt enthusiast to sample the huge variety of subtle differences which occur between casks.

The Milton distillery was founded in the grounds of Pluscarden Abbey, six miles south of Elgin. It became known as Milton of Duff (and later just Miltonduff) when the Duff family bought the land. The area was a favourite with illicit distillers and founders Andrew Peary and Robert Bain may have been distilling prior to buying a license in 1824. They ran the distillery until it was purchased by William Stuart in 1866. In 2005, Allied was acquired by Pernod Ricard and Miltonduff became part of their Chivas Brothers portfolio. Official bottlings of Miltonduff are rare but independently bottled single cask expressions are becoming more common.

This single malt whisky was distilled in 2011 at the Miltonduff distillery in the Speyside whisky region of Scotland. It was matured in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry butts and in 2024 was bottled at 57.1% alc/vol as part of the Signatory Vintage 100 Proof range.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: A wonderfully aromatic bouquet of dried plums, figs, shaved chocolate, walnut whip, dark cherries and mint.

Palate: Walnut whip, bold notes of European oak, blackcurrant, raisins, malted barley and soft hints of menthol.

Finish: Medium to long, expresso, caramel, dark chocolate, garden herbs and dates.
