The Glover 2014 Aged 8 Years Batch 7 malt whisky is a unique creation by the independent bottler Adelphi. This blended malt is part of their Fusion series, which explores the fascinating combination of Scotch and Japanese whiskies.

Batch 7 is a marriage of two single casks distilled in 2014: one containing unpeated Ardnamurchan (a Highland single malt from Adelphi’s own distillery) and the other containing peated Chichibu (a highly sought after Japanese single malt). Both whiskies were matured in bourbon barrels before being blended and bottled in 2024 at a cask strength of 56.4% alc/vol.

This release pays homage to Thomas Blake Glover, a 19th-century Scottish industrialist who played a significant role in the development of modern Japan. Known as the “Scottish Samurai,” Glover’s life and achievements are celebrated through this unique blend.

Adelphi is known for its meticulous cask selection and dedication to showcasing the character of different distilleries. By combining these two distinct single malts, they’ve created a whisky that offers a compelling interplay of flavours and textures.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Expect a complex and inviting aroma, with notes of ripe orchard fruits, citrus zest, and a subtle smokiness. Hints of vanilla, honey, and spice add depth and complexity.

Palate: The palate is full-bodied and well-balanced, with a burst of fruity sweetness followed by a gentle peat smoke. Flavours of apple, pear, and citrus mingle with notes of caramel, spice, and a subtle earthy undertone.

Finish: The finish is long and warming, with the fruit and spice notes lingering. A delicate smokiness and a hint of oak provide a satisfying conclusion.
