Waubs Harbour Kelp Revival is a limited-edition single malt whisky from the Tasmanian distillery, Waubs Harbour. This expression is unique not just for its flavour profile but also for its connection to a worthy cause. It was crafted to raise awareness for the Tasmanian Giant Kelp Restoration Project, an initiative aiming to regenerate the nearly-extinct giant kelp forests along the Tasmanian coast.

The whisky itself is a fascinating blend of influences. It’s initially matured in Apera (Australian sherry) casks, then finished in a rare 70-year-old Tawny Port cask.To add further complexity, a small amount of coastal peated whisky is added to the blend.This combination results in a unique maritime character with a balance of sweetness, fruitiness, spice, and a subtle smoky note.

Only 607 bottles of Kelp Revival were produced, making it a limited release. It’s bottled at 45.7% ABV, and like all Waubs Harbour whiskies, it’s non-chill filtered and has no added colour.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Nectar honey, dried fruits like chocolate-coated sultanas and apricots, and a subtle oak influence.

Palate: Juicy canned fruits from the Apera casks, rich spices and thick sweetness from the Tawny Port, and a nutty, earthy complexity from the coastal peat.

Finish: Lingering sultanas and melted butter from the Tawny, with a persistent nuttiness from the peat, creating a complex and satisfying finish.
