Something Different – Arran Cask Finish Single Malt
Earlier in the year we were lucky enough to acquire some limited edition Arran Cask Finish Single Malt Whisky. It sold out very quickly so we went hunting around for more and found this great Island single malt Scotch whisky.
In our opinion Isle of Arran distillers are the champions at cask finished whiskies. They have had many releases throughout the years which includes Amarone, Sauternes, Port, Madeira and Marsala to name just a few. Now it’s time to experience the Cote Rotie finish.
After initially maturing in traditional oak casks over a number of years The Arran Single Malt in this bottling was ‘finished’ in a selection of Côte-Rôtie wine casks sourced from a quality producer of this red wine from the Rhone Valley
The Arran Master Distiller, James MacTaggart, has carefully monitored this period of secondary maturation to ensure the perfect balance is struck between the Cote Rotie casks and the intrinsic sweet-fruity character of The Arran Malt. The end result is a Single Malt with a decadently fruity, gourmet character, full of complexity and quality.
“What a dram, one for a summer evening or indeed a cosy night in. Great exploration of the cask”.
