Whisky & Glassware
Ok, another question I have been asked many a-time over the years is “What is the best glass to drink your whisky from?”. My answer has always been whichever you prefer.
Over the past 15 or so years there has been a rise in many different styles of glassware to enjoy your favourite tipple in. Each of them bringing their own qualities to your whisky experience. I feel that you should go out there and experiment with as many of the glasses as you can find. I change what I choose to drink from all the time. Just like if I choose to add water or ice, it just adds another level of experimentation in the wonderful world of whisky!
So I thought to start not only writing about just adding water and ice but, what style of glass I choose to use also.
I came up with this amazing idea with a friend of mine when we were sitting enjoying a wee dram of Signatory’s Fettercairn 1997 (tasting notes and thoughts are below) we were talking about ‘Bladerunner’ one of my favourite films of all time, and got me remembering the whisky glass that Harrison Ford uses in this movie. I love a lot of the glasses out there but I need to get one of these! Most do help to intensify the aromas by capturing the oils and directing them straight to your nose for nosing. Others are better for serving whisky with ice and getting more of the flavours in the palate.
Go out there and have fun with different whiskies and glasses I would love to hear about your experiences! Explore our glassware here
