On the 31st of July 1970 the Royal Navy discontinued their sailors daily rum rationing, this is known as Black Tot Day. The remaining rum sat in storage for many years before being bought by Speciality Drinks Ltd in order to create Black Tot. It’s a blend of those rums, celebrating years of naval tradition and offering drinkers a chance to try a true British Navy Rum.

Black Tot is a modern take on an old style of rum, inspired by more than three centuries of naval tradition. Bringing together the core components of British Naval rum, Black Tot is fresh and fruity spirit that blows the cobwebs off the stylebook. Rather than the rich and dark style of the past, Black Tot layers elegant and fruity Barbados rum with rich and full-bodied Guyanan and funky Jamaican to create a rum that marries tropical fruit tones with a rich undercurrent of chocolate and coffee.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Cinnamon spice, candied fruits and citrus peel, slight notes of coffee and chocolate shavings.

Palate: Strong aniseed, liquorice and vanilla, followed by creamier chocolate with fruits and a slight nuttiness.

Finish: Long lasting finish, chocolatey, with hints of coffee and cream.
