Finally, after five years of maturation, in 2023 our Master Distillers tasted the highly unique and boldly flavoured red wine cask matured Coastal Stone Whiskies and decided that they needed to be released under an Italian wine varietal banner reflecting their provenance. The Luxe series was born.

Ex-Sangiovese casks from Australian winery Mino & Co have given incredible complexity to this whisky. Savour flavours of apricot, cinnamon and lavender. 300L American Oak hogsheads casks were sent to Seppeltsfield in South Australia for renowned barrel cooper Andrew Young to use his magic flame to char these precious barrels before they were sent back to us. All casks were ‘first fill’ having never held whisky, only Sangiovese wine previously, providing an amazing catalogue of flavour. These barrels held pride of place at the distillery, being stored on the very top of the barrel room stacks. The constant changes of Northern Beaches climate have led to the development of robust and complex flavours of different character depending on the Italian wine varietal that the barrel was filled with at Mino & Co.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Floral and citrus forward aromatics, leaning into cinnamon spice, stone fruits of apricot and peach.

Palate: Creamy buttery body with spices of cinnamon, liquorice, mint and paprika giving way to tart cherry, red plum and strawberry.

Finish: Sweet tannins with a smooth cinnamon spice finish.
