In ancient times, the land around I-Lan in Taiwan was called Kavalan, a mysterious land that was solely inhabited by the indigenous people of the Kavalan clan. The name was officially recognised by the Emperor of the Chin dynasty in the year of 1809 when the original city was also built under the same name.

Kavalan had always been kept primitive and protected from the outside world by the Syue-shan mountain range which is abundant in high quality natural water that comes from deep within the mountain range. The mists of Kavalan and the spirits of the past have been created for you in this exquisite whisky.

The Kavalan Rum Cask Solist, bottled for 2024 Luna New Year, marries Kavalan’s much renowned single malt whisky with rum casks to produce a sensational single cask expression. It comes in a gift set with a bonus 50ml sample of Kavalan Port Cask Solist in a wonderfully presented gift box featuring pot stills, the Taiwanese countryside being overlooked by a dragon.
The single cask whisky was bottled at 50% alc/vol.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: A tantalising aroma of golden honey, zesty citrus, and comforting vanilla, with a subtle whisper of peppery spice.

Palate: A bold and luscious palate, brimming with juicy tropical fruit flavours. The sweetness is tempered by a gentle wave of warming spice, leading to a delightful finish of creamy vanilla and toffee.

Finish: A medium-length finish that lingers on the palate, leaving a satisfying impression of tropical fruit and vanilla.
