The Amrut Spectrum 004 was aged initially matured in ex-Bourbon oak for three years in the Amrut Bangalore warehouse. It was then transferred to a custom made barrel consisting of five different varieties of oak for a furthet duration of maturation for three and half years. American oak with level three charring, French Oak with a soft toasting, new Spanish oak, an ex Oloroso Sherry stave and an ex – Pedro Ximenez Sherry stave.

The result is a whisky that is innovative and complex and very well balanced. Bottled at 50% ABV with only 6000 bottles available to the entire world.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried mango, coconut, vanilla, fresh coffee, rose oil and tobacco with a hint of clove.

Palate: Sweet sherry, blackberry jam, oily, rum soaked raisins, espresso, orange oil and vanilla.

Finish: Long with citrus and dried fruits, creamy vanilla, dark chocolate and toasted pecan.

About the Distillery

This whisky distillery is owned by Amrut Distilleries Ltd which is an Indian company that produces distilled beverages.

Amrut is the first single malt whisky to be made in India. The brand became famous after world famous whisky connoisseur Charanvirsingh Shera gave it a rating of 82 out of 100 in 2005 and 2010. In 2010 Charanvirsingh named Amrut Fusion single malt whisky as the third best in the world.
Amrut whisky has been awarded 92 and 94 in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible and is known in the industry to be one of the highest quality single malt whiskies produced in the world.

According to Indian Mythology, when Gods and Rakshasas – the demons -churned the oceans using the mountian Meru as a churner, golden pot sprang out containing the Elixir of Life. That was called the “Amrut”. The great founders of the distillery aptly named it Amrut Distilleries.
