Darkness whisky is a collection of award winning, intensley sherried Scotch whisky. Every whisky in the Darkness range has undertaken a signature maturation of 6 months in a specially hand coopered sherried octave cask. This tiny vessel of only a capacity of 64 litres yields maximum richness and depth plus an alluring 100% natural red amber colour.

The Blair Athol Distillery is located near Pitlochry in the Highlands of Scotland. Blair Athol was originally the estate village of the picturesque Blair Castle, at whose gates the distillery now stands. The distillery was licensed in 1825, on the site of an older distillery, and was purchased by Arthur Bell and Sons in 1933. Since then the distillery was purchased by the Guinness Group in 1985. Running 4 stills, the distillery produces approximately 2,300,000 litres annually.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe bananas, creamy caramel, middle eastern spices of cardamon, cinnamon and nutmeg, plump raisins and barrel char.

Palate: Orange citrus, charred oak, summer pudding, walnuts and a hint of marzipan.

Finish: Long and rich with coffee, Turkish Delight, dark chocolate and salty maritime notes.
