Glencadam Aged 19 Years Oloroso Sherry Finish Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The Glencadam distillery was founded in 1825 and produces 1.5 million litres of spirit annually. The distillery has two stills and is situated near the River Esk in the Highland region of Scotland. It takes the water for its spirit from nearby springs in the surrounding green hills. The current owners are Angus Dundee plc who purchased the distillery in 2003 and also own the Tomintoul distillery in Speyside. The whisky produced at this distillery is an important component of Ballentine’s blends. Expect floral with notes of orange and citrus fruits. It has a refined dark oak undertone and is an elegant single malt whisky.

Awarded a Silver Outstanding at the IWSC for the whisky category of Scotch Single Malt Highland 14-19 Years Old Cask Finish. The IWSC celebrates the top Medal Winners of the International Wine and Spirit Competition and is held every year with the 2016 ceremony taking place at the Vintners’ Hall in the City of London.

Glencadam 19 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish has replaced the much loved 14 years old Oloroso Sherry finish and is a limited release of only 6000 bottles. Using ex bourbon barrels for the first 13 years  the liquid is then transferred to Oloroso Sherry barrels and matured for a further 6 years for a long ‘finish’ to impart some of the sherry flavours into the spirit. Bottled at 46% abv and all natural with no colouring or additives.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Blackberries and Boysenberries, sherry soaked raisins, mocha, blood oranges and spiced oak.

Palate: Fruit cake, mixed nuts and dry sherry. Lots of oak with some vanilla and lemon zest.

Finish: Creamy sherry notes, some stemmed ginger with old cigar box and leather.
