The Glenfarclas Distillery is situated in the Speyside region in Ballindalloch, Scotland. The term Glenfarclas translates to valley of the green grass. The distillery is owned and run by the Grant family. Boasting a yearly capacity of around 3.5 million litres of spirit helping mature around 68,000 casks which are kept on site in traditional dunnage warehouses. Glenfarclas produce a traditional Highland malt with a heavy sherry influence.
North Star Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow, Scotland. They pride themselves on bottling the finest single malt Scotch whisky, blended whisky and blended malt Scotch whisky. Producing artisan single cask whisky from various regions of Scotland as well as bottling rums, gins and Bourbon whiskey. All products are small batch, bottled at cask strength.
An independent bottling from the Glenfarclas Distillery, which is quite rare indeed. Distilled in 2011 and matured for 11 years in a single first fill Oloroso Sherry Butt. Bottled in 2023 at 56.5% abv with only 402 bottles available.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Freshly baked sponge cake smothered in blonde toffee, jammy dodgers, vanilla shortbread, milk chocolate and soft Christmas cake spice.
Palate: Ripe green apples, toffee, dark red fruits with chocolate anglaise and summer pudding.
Finish: Long with creamy espresso, hints of tropical fruits, chocolate fondue and soft spices.
