The Scottish Lowland whisky region isn’t famous for producing a large range of product for us to be tempted with and it doesn’t really show much in the way of limited edition bottlings. The Glenkinchie Distillery sits just outside the nations capital Edinburgh and has recently gone through a major refurbishment (2020). The distilleries spirit plays a vital part in the creation of Johnnie Walker blended Scotch whisky. This lowland distillery focuses on double distillation and matured most of its stock in barrels which have previously held bourbon.

The Special Releases ‘Spirited Xchange 2023’ Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection was created in collaboration with eight illustrators. United by their passion for exploration and discovery, the illustrators pay homage to their individual cultures through the intricate and captivating designs that adorn the packaging. Each illustration is unique and dedicated to the beloved distilleries and the stories of the spirit, creating a compelling storytelling moment that places the expression at the heart of the experience, bringing the brand to life.

Released as part of Diageo’s Special Release 2023 series this ‘The Floral Treasure’ has been matured in a mix of refil American and European oak casks with a total maturation of 27 years before being bottled at 58.3% Alc/vol.

The Artist: Dong Giu

Dong Giu’s artwork merges traditional Chinese aesthetics and contemporary sensibilities, combining delicate lines and subtle shades of classical ink paintings with bold use of vibrant modern colours and playful interpretations of classical auspicious motifs.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Subtle Elderflower and baking cookies, tinned peaches.

Palate: Orchard fruits and oaky spices with notes of fresh vanilla bean and citrus.

Finish: Long, delicate floral finish.
