The Lakes Distillery is situated in the Lake District National Park in Northern England. The distillery has not been talked about until recent World Whisky results were announced naming one of the whiskies produced here as ‘Best In The World’. It’s generally at this turning point after receiving such a momentous award that the distillery gets rather popular and everyone wants to start talking about The Lakes Distillery and drinking what it produces.
The Lakes Distillery’s exploration into cask seasoning continues with this expression of The One collection. Exclusively from the Andalusian town of Sanlucar de Barrameda, the cooler coastal climate of the region gives Manzanilla distinctive dry saline characteristics. The singular blend of The Lakes Single Malt and select grain and malt Scotch whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay is then finished in the finest Manzanilla casks to create this refreshing expression of The One. Non-chill filtered for a richer mouthfeel and fuller flavour, with only the natural colours derived from their oak casks in every bottle. Bottled at 46.6% ABV.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose:Â Plum jam (salty plums), boiled sweets, floral smoke, aromatic woodsmoke and a touch of salty sea spray.
Palate:Â Light notes of stewed apples, candied ginger, floral freshness with a hint of lemon zest and spice.
Finish:Â Uplifting, fresh and balanced.
