The Whisky
This energetic bottling from Signatory Vintage’s 100 Proof Collection (Edition #44) captures the vibrant, honeyed character of the Highland’s Tullibardine Distillery. Distilled in 2015 and matured for 9 years, this malt was nurtured in a small batch of First and Second Fill Oloroso ex-Sherry Butts. This combination provides a beautiful balance: the First Fill casks deliver rich dried fruit and chocolate, while the Second Fill allows the youthful, malty spirit to maintain its brightness. Bottled at the traditional 100 Proof (57.1% alc/vol), it is un-chillfiltered and natural in colour, delivering a bold, full bodied snapshot of a modern sherried Highland malt.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Bright bursts of toffee apple, honeyed barley, and orange zest, sweeping into richer notes of raisin loaf and cocoa powder.
Palate: Velvety and full. A surge of treacle toffee, red berry compôte, and malted biscuit glides across the tongue. Flavours of cinnamon spiced chocolate and roasted almond provide a warming, complex spice.
Finish: Medium to long and gently drying. Lingering notes of sherry-soaked fruitcake and a final flourish of vanilla malt sweetness, carried beautifully by the high proof.
The Independent Bottler
Signatory Vintage is one of Scotland’s most respected independent bottlers, celebrated for its unwavering commitment to quality and transparency. Established in 1988 by brothers Andrew and Brian Symington, Signatory Vintage quickly carved a niche by offering single cask, un-chillfiltered, and natural colour whiskies – practices that were far less common at the time but are now widely revered by connoisseurs. Their name, “Signatory,” stems from their original intention to have famous personalities sign the labels of their special bottlings, a unique concept that unfortunately proved impractical but left a lasting legacy in their brand name. Over the decades, Signatory Vintage has amassed an astonishing collection of casks from distilleries across Scotland, including many silent stills. This extensive inventory allows them to release an incredibly diverse range of whiskies, from youthful and vibrant expressions to incredibly rare and aged treasures. Each bottle is a testament to the individual character of the distillery and the unique journey of the liquid within its cask.
Signatory Vintage represents an unparalleled opportunity to explore the true essence of Scotch whisky. Their commitment to bottling at natural cask strength, un-chillfiltered, and without added colouring ensures that every drop delivers the purest and most authentic distillery character. When you choose a Signatory Vintage bottling, you’re not just buying a whisky; you’re acquiring a piece of liquid history, a unique expression that tells its own story from cask to glass. Discover the depth and diversity of Scotland’s finest spirits with Signatory Vintage.
The Distillery
Tullibardine Distillery is a historic Highland site located at the foot of the Ochil Hills. The distillery prides itself on its tradition and the quality of its barley and water sources. Its spirit is known for being naturally floral, malty, and slightly sweet, making it an excellent base for a variety of cask finishes. This Signatory bottling, with its dual Oloroso maturation, showcases Tullibardine’s ability to evolve its elegant malt into a rich, fruit driven, and highly satisfying dram.
