Feature Dram – Signatory Vintage 2005 Ledaig Aged 10 Years Old
Matured in a 1st Fill Sherry Barrel for 10 years and taken from the barrel and bottled at cask strength 57.3% abv. This slightly smokey and sweet whisky is ideal for sharing with family and friends over the festive period.
This whisky hails from the Tobermory Distillery which was in its early days better known as Ledaig. One of Scotlands oldest distilleries which was founded in 1798. The distillery has a curious quirk in that it produces non peated single malt for half the year bottled under the name Tobermory and for the second 6 months of the year produces a heavily peated single malt which is named Ledaig.
This whisky has lovely notes of sherry sweetness on the nose, punches of peaty smoke and Christmas pudding. Banoffee pie and hints of chocolate. The palate has medicinal peat, orange peel and milk chocolate, caramel with figs, dates and raisins. The finish is long with mince pies and caramel praline with a touch of spice.
