Located on the Isle of Islay in the Scottish Hebrides, the Ardbeg Distillery has stood for over 200 years recently celebrating their bicentenary in 2015. The distillery was completely shutdown between 1981 to 1989 and operating in a limited capacity prior to being purchased by Glenmorangie in 1997 and subsequently coming under the control of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy in 2004. An upgrade to the distillery completed in early 2021 saw a brand new still house and a new set of stills doubling the distilleries production capacity to 2,400,000 litres per annum.

Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, where only the bravest souls dare to venture. Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced dram. Like the whirlpool itself, Corryvreckan is not for the faint-hearted! Bottled straight from the cask at 57.1%ABV.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Tarry ropes, cayenne, medicinal and herbaceous.

Taste: Pepper, brown sugar, espresso and dark fruits.

Finish: Salinity, mocha and smoked meat.
