The Whisky

This superb single malt from the versatile Benriach Distillery is part of Signatory Vintage’s 100 Proof Series Edition (#40). Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2025, this 10 year old expression showcases the profound power of active wood. It was fully matured in First Fill Oloroso ex-Sherry Butts, which have layered the classic Benriach spirit with intense dark fruit, spice, and cocoa. Bottled at the robust 100 Proof (57.1% alc/vol), this is a sherry lover’s dream dram, delivering an old school profile often associated with whiskies twice its age. It is presented non-chill filtered and with deep, natural colour.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Deep and intense. Aromas of figs and dates drizzled in honey, intertwined with clove studded oranges, rich dark chocolate, and a hint of antique wood.

Palate: Full bodied, chewy, and mouth coating. Flavours explode with raisin loaf, nutmeg, rich malt, and black cherries dipped in dark chocolate. The high ABV is beautifully integrated, providing immense warmth.

Finish: Long and satisfying. Lingering notes of rich fruitcake, baking spices, and a final dry cocoa/espresso note.
