Lindores Abbey Friar John Cor Cask Strength Congregation Batch Chapter 1 Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 60.2% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
Lindores Abbey is officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky. It was back in 1494 that King James IV commissioned Brother John Cor at Lindores Abbey to make aqua vitae with eight bolls of malt. After a break of almost 523 years the stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery are flowing. Twenty years in the making and we can now enjoy a whisky again from where it all began.
A superb cask strength single malt whisky from Lindores Abbey Distillery. This whisky was matured in a congregation of casks. Cask previously used for Bourbon, Monbazillac sweet wine, STR, and sherry have created a fruity well balanced single malt.
The black bottle is inspired by the tunics that would have been worn by the monks that roamed the grounds of Lindores Abbey back in 1494, including Friar John Cor, the monk commissioned to produce aqua vitae from malt in the first written reference to Scotch whisky! Bottled at 60.2% ABV, without added colour or chill filtration.
