Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Bold, expressive, and dessert like. You are greeted by an intense wave of raisin fudge and dark sultanas, followed by the floral lift of heather honey and orange zest. As it opens, deeper notes of ginger cake, cinnamon bark, and malted biscuits emerge, creating a scent that is both rich and invigoratingly bright.

Palate: The arrival is thick and punchy, as you’d expect from its 57.1% strength. It delivers a silky surge of toffee apple and fig jam, which quickly evolves into a mid-palate of clove-spiked chocolate and roasted hazelnuts. The bourbon wood provides a “zingy” malty backbone, ensuring that the heavy PX sweetness is perfectly balanced by notes of vanilla and fresh pear.

Finish: Medium to long, warming, and elegantly drying. The finish lingers with a final flourish of PX-soaked fruitcake and marmalade, finally tapering off with a sophisticated trail of soft oak spice and vanilla malt sweetness.

The Distillery

Mannochmore, located near Elgin in Speyside, was founded in 1971. A unique factual detail: It is the “sister” distillery to Glenlossie, and the two sites actually share the same workforce, with production alternating between the two throughout the year. Because Mannochmore is an “industrial” powerhouse primarily used for blending, official single malt bottlings are incredibly rare. This Signatory release allows the distillery’s spirit—known for its clean, “fruity” character—to finally step out of the shadows and prove it can stand toe-to-toe with Speyside’s more famous names.
