Our Tasting Notes
This whisky offers a wonderfully approachable and exceptionally smooth profile, with a delightful balance of sweetness, creamy texture, and refined oak notes, amplified by the higher proof.
Nose: Expect inviting aromas of warm vanilla, rich caramel, and butterscotch, with a heightened intensity from the 100 proof. Notes of toasted coconut and sweet cereals are prominent, alongside hints of soft orchard fruits and a delicate floral freshness. The extended maturation brings a more profound oak influence.
Palate: Very smooth and luxurious, with a full, creamy body that coats the mouth. Flavours of sweet vanilla bean, honeyed corn, and crème brûlée lead the way, beautifully integrated with a refined oak spice (gentle cinnamon, nutmeg). Notes of rich toffee and a subtle fruitiness (dried apricot, pear) add complexity, leading to a long, satisfying development, with the higher ABV providing a pleasant warmth.
Finish: Long, exceptionally smooth, and subtly warming. Lingering notes of sweet vanilla, toasted oak, and a delicate caramel persist. It fades elegantly, leaving a clean, sweet, and remarkably mellow aftertaste, with a lingering gentle heat. This whisky is an outstanding example of a mature single grain, demonstrating the complexity and enjoyment these whiskies offer, perfect for sipping neat or exploring in sophisticated cocktails.
Cameronbridge Distillery is located in Windygates, Fife, in the Lowland region of Scotland. It is a distillery of immense historical significance, originally founded in 1824 by John Haig, who was instrumental in the development of column stills and continuous distillation. Cameronbridge holds the distinction of being Scotland’s first grain distillery and is currently the largest in Scotland. It is a powerhouse of grain whisky production, with its output primarily destined for some of the world’s most famous blended Scotch whiskies, including Johnnie Walker, J&B, and Haig Club. Today, Cameronbridge is owned by Diageo, one of the world’s largest spirits companies. The distillery does not have a public visitor centre, as it is a major industrial production facility focused on grain whisky.
Signatory Vintage, founded in 1988 by brothers Andrew and Brian Symington, stands as one of Scotland’s most respected and prominent independent bottlers. Their philosophy is rooted in offering whisky enthusiasts a broad and diverse range of unique expressions, often sourcing casks from distilleries whose whiskies are not commonly seen as official single malts. Signatory is dedicated to bottling whiskies at natural cask strength or other robust proofs, such as their renowned 100 Proof Collection. They always ensure their whiskies are non-chill filtered and retain their natural colour.
