After the first release of this fine Scottish Single Malt we welcome the 5th batch to our shores and again it’s a gem. This GlenDronach offers all the characteristics we would expect, afterall it’s matured in a combination of Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks. These casks handcrafted from European oak by some of the most reputable and renowned bodegas from Jerez in the South of Spain. The slow maturation allows the spirit to combine with the rich sherry wood and over years create a masterpiece which is delivered at cask strength. Our team truly hope that we continue to see unaged, sherry matured, cask strength single malt whisky from this distillery
A classic GlenDronach exactly as it was made – cask strength, non chill filtered and at natural colour. Each batch is limited to 12,000 bottles worldwide. Batch one was bottled at 54.8%, batch 2 55.2%, batch 3 at 54.9% and batch 4 at 54.7%.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Stewed apples and cinnamon, toasted almonds, raisins and currents. Warm sherry notes with freshly shaved oak.
Palate: A full bodied single malt releasing plenty of malty, grassy flavours at first. Then opens up to raisins, figs, dates, buttery pastry and gingerbread. A black pepper spic combines all flavours perfectly.
Finish: We are given a long time to remember this amazing spirit. Lots of fruitiness, bourbon notes and malty goodness. It still amazes us how the GlenDronach character remains throughout and is enhanced by the delicious oak.
