Jack Daniels 10 Years Old Tennessee Whiskey – Batch 04 (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 48.5% Age: 10 Years Old Country: America
The Jack Daniel’s 10 Year Old Batch 4 is a highly anticipated and sought after release from the iconic Tennessee distillery. It’s part of the brand’s “Aged Series,” which represents a return to age stated expressions for Jack Daniel’s after a long hiatus.
This is a significant age statement for Jack Daniel’s, as their standard Old No. 7 is typically aged for around four to seven years. The extended aging allows for a deeper and more complex flavour profile. It uses the same classic Jack Daniel’s mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. The whiskey’s journey is carefully managed. Barrels are initially placed on the upper floors of the barrelhouses (known as the “Buzzard’s Roost”) where the high temperatures accelerate the maturation process. They are then moved to cooler, lower floors to slow the aging and allow the whiskey to mellow further. This meticulous process is what gives the whiskey its unique character. Like all Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, it undergoes the “Lincoln County Process” of charcoal mellowing, a crucial step that distinguishes it from bourbon. bottled at 48.5% alc/vol (97 proof). This higher-than-standard proof provides a more robust and intense drinking experience. This is Batch 4 of the series, released in 2025.
Our Tasting Notes
Jack Daniel’s 10 Year Old Batch 4 is described as a balanced, flavourful whiskey that showcases the classic Jack Daniel’s character with added complexity from the extended aging.
Nose: The aroma is rich and complex, often featuring classic Jack Daniel’s notes of sweet banana bread, caramel, and vanilla. This is often accompanied by dark fruits like cherry and dried apricot, along with hints of baking spices, oak, and leather. Possibly a “mulchy” or “forest floor” aroma.
Palate: The mouthfeel is typically full bodied and satisfying. You can expect a rush of flavours, including sweet brown sugar, vanilla, and caramel. The fruit notes from the nose carry through, with hints of orange zest, peach, and cherry. The influence of the oak becomes more apparent, with notes of dry oak, barrel char, and a building spice from cinnamon and pepper.
Finish: The finish is long, warming, and pleasantly dry. The flavours of vanilla, caramel, and a touch of smoky char linger, with a pleasant warmth that fades gradually.
Overall: The Jack Daniel’s 10 Year Old Batch 4 is a testament to the brand’s commitment to releasing high quality, aged expressions. It’s a fantastic whiskey for fans of Jack Daniel’s who want to experience a more mature and complex version of the classic Tennessee Whiskey. It’s also a great bottle for bourbon enthusiasts and collectors, offering a sophisticated and well crafted American whiskey that stands on its own merits.
