Lindores Abbey 2024 Thiron Limited Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 49.4% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
Lindores Abbey is officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky. It was back in 1494 that King James IV commissioned Brother John Cor at Lindores Abbey to make aqua vitae with eight bolls of malt. After a break of almost 523 years the stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery are flowing. Twenty years in the making and we can now enjoy a whisky again from where it all began.
Lindores Thiron 2024 marks the launch of Lindores Abbey’s annual “Thiron” limited edition, bottled at 49.4% alc/vol, non-chillfiltered and natural colour. Matured in French virgin oak from Thiron-Gardais, together with bourbon casks and red wine barriques, this Lowland single malt delivers vanillas, caramel syrup and baking spice on the nose; plum jam, butterscotch, gentle warming oak and roasted chestnut on the palate; finishing with oak-spice and herbal hints. A beautifully balanced dram rich in history.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Mellow vanilla cake, caramel syrup, baking spices; fruity plum jam; also hints of pear, ripe orchard fruits, mellow oak.
Palate: Oaky vanilla, butterscotch, cinnamon & ginger; plum jam returns, roasted chestnuts; a smooth, silky texture.
Finish: Medium to long; pleasing oak presence, spice lingering (ginger, nutmeg), fruit sweetness fading into herbs and gentle bitterness from oak.
