Description
Lindores Abbey Friar John Cor The Cask Strength Congregation Batch Chapter II Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 60.9% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland
Lindores Abbey is officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky. It was back in 1494 that King James IV commissioned Brother John Cor at Lindores Abbey to make aqua vitae with eight bolls of malt. After a break of almost 523 years the stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery are flowing. Twenty years in the making and we can now enjoy a whisky again from where it all began.
Lindores Friar John Cor – Chapter II is a bold, heritage rich cask strength single malt from Lindores Abbey, bottled at 60.9% alc/vol, matured in bourbon, STR wine barriques and peated rum casks. Expect roasted banana, pear and caramelised sugars on the nose, with waves of earthy peat and a long, spicy, oaky finish. No chill filtration or added colour — just raw, nuanced power and history distilled.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Maple syrup, roasted banana, dates, apples, spicy cinnamon; caramelised demerara sugar with subtle waves of earthy peat.
Palate: Juicy pears, more roasted banana, caramelised nutty almonds; followed by smoke/earthy peat and maritime hints. Well-balanced and complex
Finish: Long, warming, spicy, lingering oak, vanilla, hints of pepper and salt; the peat and smoke fade, leaving character.
