Our Tasting Notes

Nose: A vibrant and fresh opening. You are greeted by green apples and citrus zest, followed by a warm cereal note of honeyed malt and vanilla pods. As it opens, deeper notes of gooseberries, mango, and a faint hint of dunnage-warehouse funk emerge alongside a touch of gentle peat smoke.

Palate: The mouthfeel is rich, creamy, and characteristically oily. Initial flavours of malt, caramel, and orange pulp are balanced by a subtle, earthy peat smoke. Mid-palate, you’ll find white chocolate and icing sugar sweetness complemented by savoury hints of linseed oil and nutmeg.

Finish: Long, elegant, and perfectly balanced. The finish tapers off with a lingering salty undertone and sweet oak, followed by notes of gooseberries and gentle ginger spice. A final wisp of tobacco leaf smoke provides a sophisticated close.

The Distillery

Springbank is a true survivor, standing as one of the few remaining family-owned distilleries in Campbeltown. Founded in 1828, it is legendary for its refusal to modernise, still utilising a cast-iron mash tun and wooden washbacks. A unique factual detail: Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland to malt, distill, mature, and bottle 100% of its production on a single site.
