The English Distillery, located in the heart of Norfolk, is a pioneer of whisky production in England, established in 2006 as the first distillery in the country to produce single malt whisky in over a century. A small batch bottling by the lads and lassies at The English Distillery. Barley smoked to a phenol limit of 63PPM (phenal parts per million) has been used to create the spirit in July 2010 and then it has been matured in American oak ex-Bourbon casks till Aug 2018. The age is not stipulated on the bottle so this would be an no age statement whisky. We can however tell it was matured for 8 years. A small batch release of only 1065 bottles for worldwide consumption. Bottled at 46% alc/vol. Batch number 02/2018
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich earthy peat, bonfire smoke, lemon sherbet, ginger snap biscuits, warm spice.
Palate: Warm smokey notes, lemon citrus, hints of barley sweetness, honey and vanilla. Peppery spice and more ginger snap biscuit.
Finish: Lingering smoke and hints of oak and spice. Citrus notes combine with soft toffee.
