A Highland Distillery 2008 Aged 12 Years Reserve Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky – The Single Malts Of Scotland (700ml)
Volume: 700ml ABV: 48% Age: 12 Years Old Country: Scotland
The Single Malts Of Scotland range is brought to us by London based Elixir Distillers. They specialise in independently bottling Japanese and Scottish whisky but also bottle American and Irish whisky from time to time. The company’s three core whisky brands are Elements of Islay, Port Askaig and The Single Malts of Scotland, while it also bottles navy rum under the Black Tot brand. The Single Malts of Scotland range provides independent bottlings of vintage single malt Scotch from many distilleries and at a variety of ages.
A Scottish single malt whisky that was distilled in 2008 at an undisclosed Highland Distillery. It was left to mature in a batch of three ex-sherry butts and aged for more than 12 years. Intense, rich and decadent notes mingle with a touch of spice to make for a truly comforting dram. Bottled at 48% alc/vol with no added colour and no chillfiltration.
Tasting Notes
Nose: The aromas of a spongey sherry trifle are layered with glacé cherries and a slice of vanilla-and-dark-chocolate cake. A few walnuts appear, followed by strawberry jam spread on a cinnamon bagel.
Palate: Caramel stroopwafel brings plenty of decadent flavours, along with dark-chocolate fudge sauce. Some slight heat comes in the form of a glass of ginger beer, followed up by the syrupy sweetness of blueberry compote.
Finish: A bag of candied ginger remains, along with ground cardamom.
