Signatory Vintage are an independent bottler founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington. The name ‘Signatory’ was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign the labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. The first cask bottled was a 1968 Glenlivet which quickly sold through long before any suitable signee could be found. Signatory currently bottle at gour strengths: 43%, 46% Unchillfiltered (UCF), 57.1% 100 Proof and Cask Strength.To add proof of authenticity to their cask strength bottlings, Signatory always include the cask numbers, date of distillation, date of bottling and number of bottles produced.Signatory Vintage’s aim is to offer as wide a range of whiskies as possible, some of which are not even bottled by the proprietary distillery. This allows malt enthusiast to sample the huge variety of subtle differences which occur between casks.

This single malt whisky was distilled in 2012 at the Glendullan distillery in Speyside. It was placed in 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts and left to mature for 11 years. In 2024 it was bottled at 57.1% alc/vol as part of the Signatory Vintage 100 Proof Collection.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: A fruit-laden introduction awaits, with baked apple, stewed pear, and delicate apricot all wrapped in a gentle coat of honeyed toffee. As the aroma deepens, subtle notes of roasted almonds, candied orange peel, and a whisper of warm spice drift forward. Underneath, a soft undercurrent of polished oak and faint chocolate hints at the Oloroso influence yet to come.

Palate: The initial sweetness on the palate is quickly balanced by a vibrant array of flavours. Orchard fruits mingle with creamy caramel, while a gentle spiciness emerges, reminiscent of cinnamon and nutmeg. The Oloroso sherry casks contribute layers of dried fig and raisin, adding depth and complexity. The spirit’s full body and 100 proof strength deliver a satisfying warmth and a luxurious mouthfeel.

Finish: The finish is long and evolving, with the sweetness gradually fading to reveal a dry, oaky character. Notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and a hint of leather linger on the tongue, complemented by a subtle warmth that persists. The final impression is one of balance and sophistication, leaving a memorable trace of fruit, spice, and oak.
