Signatory Vintage are an independent bottler founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington. The name ‘Signatory’ was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign the labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. The first cask bottled was a 1968 Glenlivet which quickly sold through long before any suitable signee could be found. Signatory currently bottle at three strengths: 43%, 46% Unchillfiltered (UCF) and Cask Strength.To add proof of authenticity to their cask strength bottlings, Signatory always include the cask numbers, date of distillation, date of bottling and number of bottles produced.Signatory Vintage’s aim is to offer as wide a range of whiskies as possible, some of which are not even bottled by the proprietary distillery. This allows malt enthusiast to sample the huge variety of subtle differences which occur between casks.

You can almost hear the heartbeat of whisky as Macallan lies in the central district of whisky making territory. This distillery which was built in 1824 near the river Spey in a tranquil Speyside setting is owned by Edrington & William Grant & Sons. Now Macallan 50 Years Old is most famous for being James Bond’s favourite dram so something special is truly happening behind the closed doors of this distillery which is magical. Macallan is a name in whisky that is held at the highest regard and delivers time and time again.

This single malt whisky was distilled in 2010 at a secret Speyside distillery before being placed in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry butts and ex-Bourbon Hogsheads and left to mature for 13 years. In 2024 it was bottled at 57.1% alc/vol as part of the Signatory Vintage 100 Proof Collection.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Explosion of dried dark fruits and lashings of sherry sweetness, hints of leather and vanilla. Subtle notes of red apple, oranges, nutmeg and ginger.

Palate: Dried fruits of raisins and dates, vanilla and caramel, toasted oak and red apples.

Finish: Long with plenty of oak and oloroso sherry notes, red apples and chocolate with a big punch of spice.
